You have a set of letters - maybe from a word game, a puzzle, or a random jumble - and you need to find all possible words. The Letter Solver is designed for this exact scenario: enter your letters, apply filters, and get a clean list of valid English words. No extra steps, no clutter.
Finding words from any letter combination
Start by typing your letters into the input box. The solver will immediately show all words that can be formed from those letters. You don’t have to use every letter - partial matches are included by default. If you want only words that use all letters, manually check whether a result uses every letter.
Using wildcards for unknown letters
If you have a blank tile or an unknown letter, use ? or * as a wildcard. The solver will treat that character as any letter. This is useful for Scrabble, Words With Friends, or any game where you have a blank tile.
Filtering results for speed
To avoid scrolling through hundreds of words, use the filters:
- **Word length** – set an exact length.
- **Starts with / Ends with** – useful when you know the first or last letter.
- **Contains / Excludes** – force or block specific letters.
These filters help you zero in on the words you need in seconds.
Scanning by word length
Results are easier to scan when you use the length field first. If you need a word of a certain size, set that exact length before solving.
When the solver returns no results
If you get zero matches, try:
- Removing one filter at a time.
- Checking that wildcards are entered correctly.
- Making sure you haven’t accidentally excluded all possible letters.
The solver uses a standard English dictionary, so proper nouns and very obscure terms may not appear.
Pattern search example
If the answer looks like ?ra?e, put that in the pattern field first, then add required letters only after the pattern returns too many candidates. Pattern first, contains second, exclude last is the fastest order.
Choose the right word tool
Use this page when you have letters or constraints and need to narrow possible words quickly. If the constraint changes, switch tools: pattern pages for fixed blanks, Wordle pages for colored clues, crossword pages for crossings, and anagram pages when every letter must be used.
Common Questions
What words can I make with these letters?
Enter your letters in the input box and click “Solve.” The tool will list candidate English words that can be formed from those letters, with optional filters.
Do I have to use every letter?
No. By default, the solver finds words using any subset of your letters. Enable “use all letters” if you need anagrams.
Can I use wildcards or blank tiles?
Yes. Use ? or * for unknown letters or blank tiles.
Can I filter by word length?
Yes. Set an exact length before solving.
Can I exclude letters from results?
Yes. Use the “exclude letters” field to remove words containing specific letters.
Before you use the word list
Before you use a result, check the constraint that matters most for your puzzle: exact length, required letters, excluded letters, or whether every tile must be used. Tighten only one filter at a time so you can see which rule removed the right candidates.
